ALITEC, using their advanced skills in photonics and electronics, has designed and is finalizing the development of low-cost portable sensors for real-time measurement of air pollution. ALITEC is the coordinator of RIPEG Project ( detector for real-time monitoring of ultrafine particles and pollutant gases in urban areas), one of R&D projects accepted the benefits provided by the 2008 R&D call for funding proposals from Regione Toscana within the POR FESR 2007-2013 - ATTIVIA' 1.6 POR CREO and LINEA D'INTERVENTO 1.1 of PRSE. In this project ALITEC works with two other Tuscan companies, SICE Noze, and has a close collaboration with I2T3 onlus, ARPAT, the Florence municipality and the Florence University. The more explicit result of ALITEC engagement in research activity for environmental monitoring is Nano, a highly innovative portable detector for real-time measurement of micro and nano particles and of main pollutant gases (NOx, COx, Ozone) concentration. ALITEC is also a partner of CaMAm research project, funded by Regione Toscana, coordinated by Prof. Michele Marroni of the Earth Sciences Department of Pisa University, aiming at the characterization and mapping of asbestos in ophiolitic bodies of Tuscany.
